3M FT-31 Sensitivity Solution Bitter is a bitter-tasting solution, also known as Bitrex, used in a qualitative respirator fit test to ensure the wearer's respirator mask creates a proper seal against airborne particles
It works by having the wearer try to detect the bitter taste from a spray within an enclosure; if the wearer tastes it, it indicates a leak in the respirator's seal, preventing the solution from reaching the wearer's mouth
